Markings: The top of the barrel is marked “Colt’s Pt. F.A. Mfg. Co. Hartford, Ct, U.S.A.”. The left side of the barrel is marked: "Colt Frontier Six Shooter .44-40". The left side of the frame has the 2-line patent mark: “Pat. Sept. 19. 1871 /  July. 2.72. Jan. 19.75". The bottom of the frame is marked with the serial number "351330" and under the trigger guard is the letter "F". The sides of the trigger guard and the backstrap are marked with the full serial number matching the frame. The loading gate is marked with the assembly number: "516", matching the rear of the frame. The rear of the cylinder is marked "30". There is an “O” above the firing pin hole on the back of the frame.

Barrel Length: 5 ½”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a fixed blade. The rear sight is a notch in the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece gutta-percha and are in fine condition with slight smoothing of checkering and "Rampant Colt".  They fit the metal well.

Type of Finish: Blue & Case Colored

Finish Originality: There is no evidence of a refinish, and there is a good deal of original blueing and case color remaining.

Bore Condition: The bore is in fine condition. The rifling is deep and crisp with only minor pitting.

Overall Condition:  NRA Antique Fine+  with 95% bright original blue on the barrel and ejector rod housing, 90% original blue on the cylinder.  The frame has 50% case color remaining, with bright case colors in protected areas and faded color on the more exposed areas. The hammer has sharp checkering with 80% case colors remaining. The trigger guard and backstrap have 95% original bluing remaining. The screws are all in excellent condition with almost all of their finish remaining and heads undamaged. Overall the gun is in remarkable shape for a first generation Colt.

Mechanics: The action functions perfectly. The springs are strong and the lock up/timing is very tight. We did not fire this handgun.

Our Assessment:  This is an exceptional example of 1928 production Colt Single Action Frontier Six-Shooter Model revolver. This gun has all matching serial numbers, and much of the original finish remaining. A fine addition to any collection of early Colt Revolvers.
