Description:
On Hold Sale Pending US Model 1861 Springfield Civil War Musket. The functioning lock is marked US Springfield with the American eagle dated 1861. The full 3 band dark walnut stock has numerous dents and dings typically scene in Civil War used muskets. There is also burnout from firing behind the hammer.The full length barrel has both front and rear sights but the long range leaf is missing from the rear sight. Also it seems to be about 60 caliber and I can't feel any rifling left at the end of the barrel. There is a name Clarence Orn Bealsville, Ohio 1932 (possibly a civil war vet but I have not researched). All metal parts are in the bright with a brown patina.
