Description:
A beautiful high original condition example of the Meriden Firearms Co. higher graded full sidelock guns. These guns, made alongside the Parker Bros. Gun Co. in Meriden Ct. and likely engraved and finished by some of the same craftsment. This gun is engraved in about a "DHE" Grade Parker pattern as seen in the photos and the action is beautifully case hardened. Made with 30" bold chain Damascus barrels and checkered splinter forend with small Schnabel tip. Gun has double triggers, extracts, and auto safety. Capped pistol grip buttstock is checkered in point pattern and terminates with original Monorgammed buttplate.
Overall the gun remains in superb original condition. The barrels retain more than 97% bold original Damascus pattern. Action retains more than 90% original case color which is quite bold and vivid. Trigger guard retains nearly all of its high polish original blue. Top lever far right of center. The stocks are sound and superb with nearly all of their original finish with only minor handling marks. Checkering is quite crisp and the gun is all original in ever respect. Bores are bright and shiny and the mechanics are crisp. Guns is very tight and well cared for.
This gun comes to me from one of the finest Parker Collections ever assembled and the collector felt it was important to showcase the talents of the across town competitors of Parker Bros. This gun reprepsents the single finest example for condition and quality I've ever handled and should be regarded as a prize to a serious student of American double gun collecting!
