WINCHESTER PRE-64 MODEL 70, 30-06 CALIBRE, EARLY PRODUCTION 1948 WITH WEAVER MODEL K4 SCOPE IN REDFIELD MOUNTS
This presents a fine, early production (1948) Winchester Model 70 Rifle, Serial Number 76534, chambered for the 30-06 Springfield cartridge and, in addition to factory front iron sight, the rifle sports a Weaver Model K4 “Marksman” scope, mounted with Redfield rings and base. Rear iron sight slot has filler base.
Metal work is 99% plus, with, only, slight wear on heel of factory butt plate (see photo), where gun has rested in a gun rack. Scope and mounts are 95% with marks on Redfield mounting screws. Bore is bright with excellent rifling.
Walnut stock is 99% and appears to have been well re-checkered over original factory checkering with additional checkering on grip base and added wings on grip. No crack is evident, but attractive, unobtrusive wood plugs added through grip base to strengthen stock.
This fine Pre-1964 production Winchester Model 70 is priced at little more than a market price for the action, alone, at $1,950.00.
