I'm just going to describe this rifle and let the chips fall where they may. First, the lock is dated 1873, the breechblock is marked 1884. Serial number is 320xxx. The barrel is smoothbore. Bannerman? The rear sight is marked C for carbine. No door in the buttplate. The stock appears to be a cut down rifle stock, as you can see where the hole for the cleaning rod was filled. There is a serifed P proofstamp on the stock behind the trigger bow tang. Several numbers stamped in the wood at the heel. U.S. stamped on the buttplate by the top screw. The number 73 is stamped into the lockplate an inch back from the hammer. And that's it. Check the pics, and see if you like it. $40 shipping to the lower 48, 3% surcharge for using a CC.
