EXCELLENT 4-BARREL MOSSBERG "BROWNIE" DERRINGER-STYLE .22 LR POCKET PISTOL, #29XXX, MADE 1920-1932. These unusual little pistols modeled loosely after the old Sharps 4-barrel derringers of the 1870s period must have been produced in small numbers as they seldom show up at gun shows or in listings. This is a nice one that retains most of the dull blue factory blue finish with some minor age browning mainly on the top of the barrel cluster and a little normal edge wear. In this model, the firing pin revolves automatically when the double action trigger is pulled for each shot. Almost every one of these I've encountered has been missing the little stamped spring steel cartridge case ejector that fits in a tiny slot on top of the frame on the left side. Amazingly, this one is intact. Wood grips are excellent and all markings are sharp and clear including the "PAT. JULY 27, 1920" stamping on the right side of the barrels and the "BROWNIE" stamping on the left side of the frame above the grips. Matching serial numbers and exc. mech. and bores. A true oddity from the Roaring Twenties!
