Description:
This is a like-new, never fired Armalite AR-30(M) rifle chambered in .338 Lapua cartridge. Bought new by the original owner many years ago, this AR-30 was put into storage, never once fired or carried afield since leaving the factory. This minty long-range rifle comes complete with it's original box. The Armalite AR-30(M) was introduced in 2003 and remained in production until 2012. The AR-30(M) is essentially a scaled-down AR-50 and features a robust front-lock bolt action housed in a octagonal receiver, a single stack 5-round magazine, a 26" inch chrome moly barrel with a robust muzzle brake, a hand-tuned single stage trigger, and a metal chassis style stock with a skeletonized removable buttstock. It was offered in .300 Win Mag, .308 Winchester, or .338 Lapua Magnum. This particular example is chambered in the most powerful cartridge offered, the .338 Lapua Magnum. Designed as a precision sniping/long range rifle, the AR-30 quickly earned a reputation for extreme accuracy, excellent reliability, and superb build quality. As mentioned before, this example is a new rifle for all intents and purposes. It has been factory test fired only and is in like-new condition. Outside of a few VERY minor handling/storage marks it is in like-new condition. The factory parkerized finish is handsome and durable, and all of the factory markings are crisp and clean. The receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope base as well as machined to clear a specific base with a built-in recoil stop. This is the T-shaped cutout that can be seen in picture #11. The safety is mounted at the rear right side of the bolt just behind the bolt handle and the magazine release is located on the same side just ahead of the bolt handle. The stock completely free-floats the barrel and is a chassis style with an AR-15 pistol grip and a skeleton buttstock that can be removed with just two bolts. The skeleton buttstock features a check rest and a recoil-absorbing rubber pad. The 26" inch barrel has a perfect mirror-bright bore with sharp, like-new rifling. There are no visible imperfections in the bore whatsoever. The muzzle brake is a smaller version of the .50 BMG brake on the AR-50 and is VERY effective in reducing the felt recoil, just make sure you wear hearing protection as we are told they are super loud. The action in this Armalite is smooth and precise, and the bolt lock-up to the barrel is smooth yet tight. All of the controls on the rifle are in perfect working order, and the hand-tuned single stage trigger is superb as it breaks with a short light pull with no grit, slop, or excessive travel. This rifle does have the original box with it, however the box is in rough shape as it was stored in an outbuilding that had a leaky roof. If you have been looking for a powerful and accurate long-range rifle for your collection this .338 Lapua Magnum Armalite AR-30(M) would be a perfect candidate. They don't get much better than this in looks or performance at this great price for what is an unfired, like-new gun at well below Blue Book value.
