Description:
Scott Gahimer collection. Colt M1900 U.S. Navy s/n 1161. One of only 250 produced. There are only about 125 believed to be surviving in collections today.

The Colt M1900 Sight Safety was Colt's first offering in a semi-automatic pistol. It was developed by John M. Bowning for the U.S. Military Pistol Trials to compete for adoption as the standard military sidearm. The pistol trials continued over the next 11 years, and ultimately concluded with the adoption of the Colt M1911 pistol that served as the standard military sidearm for the military for the next 75 years.

This pistol is original and unaltered as manufactured by Colt. The sight-safety has not been altered. The pistol appears to be fully functional. However, I have not fired it. Most of the Colt factory "oil finish" polish and "fire blue" 1st type finish still remains. I would estimate remaining original finish to rate ca. 97%.

There are some fine, superfiscial scuffs, scratches, nicks and dings in various places, which is quite common with these early Navy Trials pistols. The stocks also show handling dings and nicks. There is a small crack in the right stock, just above the top stock screw. Overall, condition is still a quite remarkable compared to other known examples.

Internally the pistol is about new condition. Bore is bright and free of corrosion. The left side trigger guard bow is marked with a "B" in a triangle. Right side trigger guard bow is marked with the Trident. The left side of the receiver is marked U.S.N. 161. The right side of the receiver is marked with the Colt factory serial number 1161.

The magazine is original nickel finish with the correct 1884 patent date. Finish is excellent with some isolated minor flaking. There are no cracks in the body of the magazine. The magazine feeds into the magazine well flawlessly.

There is a 3-day non-fiirng inspection period. Should the buyer wish to return the pistol for any reason a refund (less the shipping and insurance charges) shall be granted provided the pistol is returned in the same condition as shipped. This pistol is C&R eligible. You must furnish a valid 01 FFL or 03 C&R to purchase. Payment shall be required in advance by cash, certifed bank cashier's check or bank wire transfer. The pistol will not ship until funds clear.

Please contact me with any questions regarding this listing. Serious inquiries only, please. No, I am not selling my entire collection. However, I am selling several firearms at this time and may offer others here in the future.
