Berlin-Luebecker Maschinenfabrik was a fairly early producer of the k98. It started making k98s in 1936 under the code “s/237”, moved to “237”, and late in 1940 changed to “duv”. BLM made k98s through late 1942 and was then fazed over into making the new semi-automatic K43 and G43. This example is “Eagle/214” and “Eagle/280” proofed. This is a very hard rifle to come by with the “237” code, as it was transitioned/changed at the end of the 1940 production year. In 1898 the German Army purchased a Mauser design, the Model 98, which incorporated improvements introduced in earlier models. The weapon was originally chambered for the Patrone 88 and officially entered German service as the Gew. 98 on April 5, 1898. This remains by far the most successful of the Mauser designs, helped by the onset of two world wars that demanded vast numbers of rifles. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bore. The stock is solid throughout containing only an average amount of wear. Legible markings. Numbers on the bolt do not match. Numbers on the receiver and barrel match. The bayonet and scabbard are in good shape. This firearm is classified as a Curio & Relic. Barrel is 24 inches. Caliber: 7.92mm Mauser Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe.
