Presented here is an honest 12 gauge L.C. Smith Field grade side by side sidelock shotgun made by Hunter Arms in Futton NY. As the photos show this shotgun has given many years of service to those who have carried it in the field. This metal has worn to a warm grey patina while retaining most of it's case color on the left side and some on the right side. The 28 inch barrel has a plain rib with simple bead sight, some high edge wear, a very good bore and is choked fixed modified. The stock and beavertail forend have earned a few character marks over the years but no cracks or chips exist. The butt plate is free of cracks and the length of pull is 14 1/4 inches to the front trigger. The action still locks up firmly and tightly and the top lever is still right of center. This hard working gun still has many years of field service ahead. This L.C. Smith would make a great addition to a collection of American classic double guns.
