Presented here is a Pre 64 Winchester Model 1897 pump shotgun chambered in 12 gauge. The Winchester Model 1897, also known as the Model 97, M97, or Trench Gun, is a pump-action shotgun with an external hammer and tube magazine manufactured by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company. The Model 1897 was an evolution of the Winchester Model 1893 designed by John Browning. From 1897 until 1957, over one million of these shotguns were produced. This particular example was made in 1956 and is basically set up as a trap gun. It has a 30 inch barrel with Simmons vent rib with a bead sight at the fixed full choke muzzle. A beautiful custom rollover stock and forend have been fitted to this fine piece. There is a little high edge wear and some handling marks but overall this is a very nice gun. The rubber recoil pad has a few edge cracks but nothing has chipped or broken off. This fine Pre 64 Winchester pump would make a great addition to an existing collection and a good investment.
