Description:
Colt 1892 Double Action 32-20 New Army model, 85% Blue and Fire Blue on the hammer and trigger 4 ½” Barrel, Manufactured in Hartford Connecticut in 1907, on top of barrel is a three line Colt address on the side is 32 W.C.F., horse in a circle on the left side of the frame, mechanically is in good shape in single action and double action, comes with original two piece Army Hard Rubber grips. Serial Number 2922X “Will need a C&R or FFL” PLEASE SEE PHOTOS FOR CONDTION
In 1892, The Second Model Double Action just like the 1889 but had cylinder lock notches and was adopted by the United States Army chambered for .38 Long Colt cartridges and had two piece Wood grips. Initial experience with the gun caused officials to request some improvements. This would be an ongoing condition, resulting in Models 1892, 1894, 1896, 1901, and 1903 for the Army, as well as a Model 1895 for the Navy and a Model 1905 Marine Corps variant. The Model New Army and New Navy was chambered for the .41 Long and short Colt and .41 cartridges, .38 Long and Short Colt cartridges, 32 W.C.F. cartridge and the (RARE) 38 Special cartridge mark on the barrel this way and with a factory letter. In about 1904 Colt got in trouble from Smith & Wesson for using 38 special on their gun, at that time Colt removed 38 special off their new Army new Navy guns and replace them with their new 38 Long colt barrels and in their catalog they advertised it would shoot the new 38 special round. So with that in mind very few of these guns ever got out that were stamped 38 special on the side of the barrel which makes this a very (RARE) gun you need to get a factory letter to verify this.
