Description:
SOLD  This is a very clean and handsome all-original and matching WW2 Canadian Military Long Branch Lee Enfield No.4 Mk.1* rifle in .303 British.  The No.4 Mk.1(*) was a main battle rifle of the Canadian forces during WW2, seeing combat everywhere that Canadian forces were stationed.  A long-proven design, the rifle served the Canadian soldiers well.  It was well-liked for its durability, reliability, and accuracy even in terrible conditions.  This particular example was made in 1943 so it potentially saw combat for two years before WW2 ended in 1945.  It is in very good condition inside and out, with all of the original finishes and parts still in place.  The dull military blue is in good shape, rating 90% with most of the wear located on the high-edges and bolt knob.  All of the factory and Canadian proofs and markings are sharp and legible, and the serial numbered receiver and bolt are matching.  This rifle is import marked but it is almost impossible to see on the underside of the barrel near the muzzle, we needed a magnifier to locate it.  The bore in this Enfield No.4 Mk.1* is excellent, mirror-bright with perfect, sharp rifling and no visible pitting or imperfections.  The original stock set on this rifle is in good condition overall, free from any major damage or cracks but showing lots of minor handling and use marks like you would expect to see on a combat-used WW2 weapon.  All of the original stock hardware is still intact and in good shape as well, including the brass buttplate with a trap for cleaning tools (no cleaning tools present).  All of the wood in this stock set is a good match to each other in both color and condition, making the rifle a handsome piece.  The action on this No.4 Mk.1* is smooth, slick, and the rotating bolt head stays on track throughout the bolt's travel.  The bolt lock-up is excellent without any slop.  All of the controls on this rifle are in perfect working order, including the flip-up adjustable rear ladder sight.  We have no doubt that this WW2 Long Branch Enfield will function just as reliably and accurately today as the day it left the factory almost 80 years ago. This rifle comes with one original 10 shot magazine and one reproductionsling.  If you have been looking for a Long Branch-made Enfield or just a WW2 No.4 Mk.1* for your collection this 1943 example would be a great choice.  This piece of history can be enjoyed as both a superb shooter AND a great long-term investment.   SOLD
