The barrel retains about 97% original rust blue, showing some light muzzle wear and some toning on the sharp edges. There is a simple bead style front sight and a u-notch rear and the barrel’s top flat is marked “Fin Par Gastinne-Renette a Paris”. The sights show some lovely pale fire temper blue as do the wings of the manual spring-loaded extractor. The hammer spine and the tang show some lovely original color case-hardening with the cartridge trough area and the sides of the hammer polished bright. There is lovely engraving on the tang, it continues on the bow of the guard and color case-hardened front extension. There is a nice steel butt cap as well which exhibits all of its original color case-hardening and shows very light borderline engraving. The French walnut stock rates very fine and is satin in-the-wood finished, exhibiting a few minor handling marks from the years. The grip is near overall very finely checkered and the gun operates well mechanically with a very robust hammer spring. The arm is cased in an oak presentation case with a blue French fitted interior with the makers' name embossed in gold in the lid. There is a wiping rod included as well as the key to the case. A lovely little Parisian parlor pistol that will maintain investment potential while giving hours of enjoyment punching the black bull’s-eye. SOLD |
