Description:
"

E. Robinson of New York delivered 30,000 58 caliber percussion Model 1861 rifle-muskets to the Union between 1863 and 1865. This rifle-musket was delivered in 1864. The barrel, like many Civil War guns, has been reamed to approx. 71 caliber smoothbore for use as a shotgun. The dark bore is fair with roughness throughout. The gun has a brown patina. The Robinson markings on the lock are very good. The stock is fair with dents and dings, an open sliver at the barrel channel, and wood missing in front of the front band at the ramrod channel. There is a contemporary sling. The rear sight leaf is a replacement and the ramrod is absent. The action functions correctly. This would be a good donor for a restoration.
