CIVIL WAR U.S. MODEL 1861 PERCUSSION .58 CAL. RIFLE MUSKET. An original Civil War Model 1861 with the exception of the brass butt plate which is a reproduction. Additionally, the lock plate which is original has been spuriously stamped “1863” and “CS/RICHMOND”. 39” rifled barrel with Ordnance “V/P/EAGLE HEAD” stamp at breech. Otherwise original and in good to very good condition. Metal with the original dark patina with pitting about the nipple and normal salt and pepper overall. Stock with the original finish and two good Ordnance inspector’s cartouches. Original ramrod. Reasonably good though dark bore and lock in functioning order.
