Fox AE 20ga - 26" Barrels
Many shooters and collectors agree, Ansley H. Fox created one of the best proportioned 20ga gun made in America when he released his new 16 and 20 gauge. They are a joy to handle and shoot. Beginning in 1912 with serial number range 300,000, the early A Grade engraving pattern was a simple border scroll pattern. Shortly after head engraver William Gough came along in 1913 and updated the A grade pattern to the more bold and desirable styling. This Fox AE SN 202379 was made in 1924 and features the more familiar deep vine and foliate style engraving.
This lovely 20 gauge weighs 5lbs 12oz. and balances just behind the hinge pin with its 26" number 4 weight Chromox steel barrels. The lovely figured capped pistol grip walnut stock has excellent dimensions and figure! This gun was fully restored a number of years ago by Bachelder Master Gunmakers, with 99% blue and bone/charcoal case color remaining. The barrels are tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, and this gun has been fully stripped, cleaned, inspected, and lubricated before reassembly. The ejectors, balance, weight, wood figure, rarity, modern stock dimensions, and knock-out overall good looks makes this a very desirable gun for your upland and clay target pursuits.
