Description:
Smith & Wesson Model 38 (no dash), .38 Special, double-action/single-action revolver, with a 2-inch barrel, fluted cylinder, original wood stocks, service trigger (0.265-inch wide) with grooved face; shrouded hammer (0.265-inch-wide) with top-serrated spur; blade front and groove rear sights.  Though the hammer is shrouded, it is accessible for cocking to fire in the single-action mode.  The revolver has a three-screw configuration, with one screw (#3) under the stock.  The overall length of the gun is 6½ inches, and the overall height is 4½ inches.  Its unloaded weight is 13.9 ounces.   There are no box, papers, or other accessories with this revolver.  Based on its serial number, the date of manufacture is 1983.  Discontinued in 1999.

The overall condition of the gun itself is 98+ percent.  The metal and the wood stocks are almost perfect.  There are a few tiny specs (and I do mean tiny) on the finish on the aluminum frame that are almost not visible to the naked eye.  However, the high-resolution photos show them quite clearly.  The bluing on the barrel and cylinder is near perfect, as is the finish on the stocks; neither shows any signs of wear.  Even the cylinder-lock ring is about a faint as I have ever seen; it is almost not visible.  There is no wear on the muzzle.  The checkering on the stocks is deep and crisp and also has no marks of any kind, including wear.  There is a touch of green tarnish on the outside edges of the S&W shields on both stocks.  There is one small area about half the size of a BB on one of the cylinders where a touch of rust had been; it is rough to the touch.  I have provided three photos of the cylinder to show the excellent condition of the whole cylinder, as well as this small area.

The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.  Contact me for additional photos of any area you would like to see or see better.

The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($30) and insurance ($24.30).

The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money order, as they are like cash.  I will ship the pistol immediately upon receipt of a USPS money order and an FFL.  I will also accept a personal check and other types of money orders, as well as bank checks and cashier's checks, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank; this includes bank checks and cashier’s checks.  I do not accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal.

Check or money order must be made out to Jerry Pownall (not Barboursville Arms).
