Description:
A beautiful custom built 30-06 by the famous gunsmith RG Owen for a Von Lengerke and Detmold (VL&D} customer in 1928. This rifle is fully documented as having been built by Owen for VL&D. The rifle is built on a 1903 Springfield barreled action. It features a quarter rib with one standing two folding rear sights,a checkered bolt handle,a horn forend tip,a drop floorplate,an engraved trapdoor grip cap,a checkered steel trapdoor buttplate,highly figured hand checkered stock with a shadowline cheek piece,a Lyman rear peep sight,and a hooded ramp front sight. The rifle is in near new original condition. It retains 100% of the original blue finish and 99% of the original wood finish. The 24" barrel has a mint bore. According to the documentation,this rifle was built for Mr. David Bruce,a wealthy banker who was a direct descendant of the Scottish king Robert the Bruce. Mr. Bruce must not have hunted much as the rifle is in such great condition. A fine addition to any collection and a true piece of out sporting history. C&R eligible.
