In every respect - wood, varnish, barrels, bluing, case hardening, mechanics, wear, screw heads, and general appearance - this shotgun is in most excellent condition and reflects the careful use, handling, and fastidious care of its successive owners over 96 years. The shotgun has 28" barrels with bright. shiny bores, 2-3/4" chambers with lengthened forcing cones, and is choked M/F. Barrels have a single brass bead. Butt plate and grip cap appear original to gun and fit perfectly. The stock and fore end wood is attractive, mellowed by age to a rich amber, and in excellent condition. The wood has original varnish and is marked with only a few minor blemishes, none breaking through the varnish. The checkering is original, intact, distinctive and handsome. The barrel blue is very fine, with tip of the muzzle case-wear and faint streak on left barrel being the principal deficiencies. There are no dents or bulges in the barrels. The case hardening shows wear but is strongly visible on the receiver sides and top, and on the underside, especially near the triggers and guard area. The bottom outer surface of the trigger guard has acquired, from hand carrying, a very attractive soft brown patina that complements the receiver and fore end furniture colors. There is a German silver name plate on the right side of the stock that bears the name of one of the previous owners. Mechanically, the action closes with a distinctive, solid click, the lockup is tight, and there is absolutely no play in the action. The fore end opens cleanly and snaps closed with authority. The triggers pull with a polished and crisp release. The stock is straight with no offset, suggesting a factory custom requirement; in any case, the result is a shotgun that should shoot equally well for both left and right handed users. REDUCED PRICE!
