These were the start of the .41 rf derringer craze following the Civil War. The .41 rimfire derringer was considered to be the ultimate easily concealable big bore hand gun of the period. In its day it was considered to be a real man stopper. Two and a half inch barrel. Colt bought the company out so they could produce this same derringer under their brand. This specimen has seen plenty of use, and the hammer has been bobbed for rapid removal and use. It is very tight and locks up well. An interesting piece that did not sit in a drawer in the 1870's.
