This is an 1894-made rifle that has retained 40-50% of the original blue along the barrel and magazine tube, with gray fading along the edges of the barrel facets, as well as numerous small surface scratches and minor blemishes throughout. A commensurate amount of original blue remains on the bolt as well. The receiver and lever have a mostly pewter gray patina, but still has muted original color case-hardening remaining, with some brighter colors on protected areas. The walnut forend has numerous small handling marks and minor blemishes along the old, added oil finish. The buttstock is in almost identical condition, but also has a relief cut at the nose of the comb to provide clearance for a no longer present long-range tang sight. The crescent steel buttplate has a dull gray patina with some plum-brown freckling at the toe and heel. The action is smooth and fully functional and the rifle is accompanied by a Cody Data Sheet that lists a shipping date of October 20, 1894. This is a very handsome rifle and would make a great addition to any collection.
