Description:
Serial #168429, .38 Special, 1 7/8" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a pre-1966 revolver, with the early flat latch, that has retained 85-90% of the original blue on the barrel and cylinder. There are some hints of silvering on the barrel, and faint lines of gray fading along the axis of the cylinder, as well as a moderate turn-ring at the rear. The alloy frame retains about 92-95% of the original black anodized finish, which has begun to turn a dark plum color over time. Some specks of underlying gray metal are present along the edges of the topstrap, at the frame knuckle, and along the edges of the trigger guard bow. The checkered, diamond-center grips are original and numbered to the gun on the interior, with only some minor handling marks and mild flattening of the points on either panel. The lock-up remains tight and the action functions flawlessly. This is a fine example of an early, flat-latch Chiefs Special Airweight, and would make a great addition to any collection. FFL or C&R
