Description:
Smith & Wesson Model 14-4 (K38 Masterpiece), .38 Special, single action / double-action revolver, with a 6-inch pinned barrel, fluted cylinder, S&W wood target stocks, service trigger (0.265-inch wide) with grooved face; service hammer (0.265-inch-wide spur) with checkered spur; open adjustable rear sight; fix front sight blade; and a blue finish.  The revolver has a three-screw configuration, with one screw (#3) under the stock.  The overall length of the gun is 11 1/8 inches; overall height is 5.75 inches (including the front-site blade; its unloaded weight is 37.1 ounces (2 pounds, 5.1 ounces).  Based on its serial number, the year of manufacture is 1977.  There is no box or other accessories with this revolver.

The overall condition of this gun is 95+ percent.  The finish on the metal and wood is all original, and is in very good to excellent condition.  There are a lot of fine scratches on the frame (especially on the right side of the frame below the cylinder), on the cylinder, on both edges of the barrel top, and on the edges of both sides of the trigger guard.  Also, on the left side of the frame just above the front and rear of the cylinder, there are a couple very small spots of thin rust that are very slightly rough to the touch.  Most of the scratches show up very well on the high-resolution photos, but less so to the naked eye.  The barrel itself, excluding the top edges, is in 98 percent condition with a couple of small nicks on the right side, just in front of the frame and a touch of wear on both sides of the muzzle.  The cylinder lock ring is very light, an indication that the gun was not fired much.  See photos.  The original wood stocks are almost perfect.  There is one small dent on the bottom edge of the right stock, toward the front of the stock.  Other than that, the stocks are 100 percent, with no other blemishes, mars, stains, etc.  The checkering is deep and crisp, with no wear or other marks.  See the photos.  As mentioned above, there are no box, accessories, or owner’s manual.

The photos are high resolution, so zoom to see details.  Please excuse the oil smears in the photos. Contact me, and I will be glad to send higher resolution photos of any part of the gun that you would like to see.

The buyer pays USPS Priority mail ($25) and insurance ($16.75).

The fastest way to get this gun is to pay with USPS (U.S. Postal Service) money order, as they are like cash.  I will ship the pistol immediately upon receipt of a USPS money order and an FFL.  I will also accept a personal check and other types of money orders, as well as bank checks and cashier's checks, but I will hold the gun until it clears my bank; this includes bank checks and cashier’s checks.  I do not accept credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal.

Check or money order must be made out to Jerry Pownall (not Barboursville Arms).
