WEATHERBY MARK V .460 WM, PRE 1978 with Redfield 13/4 -5x scope.
This rifle was purchased in 1976 for a 1978 safari, After sighting in, the rifle
took 1 Elephant, 2 Cape Buffalo and 1 huge Lord Darby Eland. The Eland was taken to test a custom .460 hollow point load incase wounded lion had to be hunted in the brush. At the first shot on the Elephant the magazine cover dropped open and the magizine emptied on the ground.
Fortunately, one round of a .460WM was all it took. The rest of the safari saw the rifle magizine cover backed up by duck tape.
Upon return home the rifle was sent back to Weatherby for repair. As part of their service the rifle was completely refinished. It has been stored and unfired
since then. The condition is NEW. The stock is unusually figured for this model and caliber, maybe a sign of the good old days.
A real prize for a big game hunter or Weatherby collector.
