Claiming to be the first pump action shotgun produced. Ahead of the Winchester 1893. Sports a 30" Damascus steel barrel , fancy hard rubber forearm handle with a checkered pistol grip wooden stock with early plastic or Bakelite butt plate. Has a dual trigger setup as early BP cartridges didn't always fire one could push front trigger forward and re-cock to try again. Loaded through bottom of reciever and ejected out the top. Francis Bannerman took over the bankrupt Spencer Arms in 1889 and started building shotguns immediately. First 3k were Spencer action's and this ones marked Bannerman 1890 the  serial number 5231no doubt would date it to maybe 1892. Built from 1890-1907, chambered for a 2 5/8" paper BP cartridge.shortly thereafter smokeless powders arrived so these were discontinued by Bannerman. This one is in exceptional condition , stock has minimal marks for a shotgun  over 132 years old. If your a shot gun collector these are rare. Seldom seen on a gun site. Most trap shooter have never seen or heard of one. Winchester went to court with its model 1893 over patent enfringments which were later dropped by Bannerman.
