Description:
This is a beautiful all-original Smith & Wesson Model 60 Stainless Chief's Special chambered in .38 Special.  This particular example was made sometime between 1979 and 1980 and has the sought-after pinned barrel.  This Model 60 has obviously lived a very easy life and is in excellent condition inside and out.  Built on the J-frame size, this DA/SA Stainless Chief's Special revolver features stainless steel construction, an alloy hammer and trigger, a 5-shot fluted cylinder, a 2" snub-nosed barrel, fixed sights, a round butt frame, and checkered Walnut grips.  As you can see from the pictures, the stainless steel is bright and exceptionally clean, rating 98%.  There are no visible scratches, wear, or damage outside of an extremely faint drag-line around the cylinder and a few tiny handling marks on the gun.  The front face of the cylinder is clean and the action star on the rear of the cylinder is in superb shape.  All of the factory markings are crisp and clear on this Smith, and all of the screws in the gun look unturned with perfect straight slots and clean heads.  The alloy trigger and hammer look like-new with no visible wear or damage of any kind.  The bore in the 2" inch barrel is mirror-bright and pristine with sharp rifling and no visible damage or erosion. The five chambers of the cylinder are equally as clean and free from imperfections.  Both of the original factory checkered Walnut grips on this Chief's Special are in excellent condition and match each other perfectly.  The right grip panel is serial-numbered to the gun on the back side, as was the practice of S&W at this time. The checkering on both grip panels is crisp and clean, and both of the S&W medallions are in excellent condition.  These factory grips are perfectly fit to the gun and tight to the metal with no wiggle.  The action on this Model 60 is smooth, slick, and perfectly "in time" regardless of whether you use it single or double-action.  All of the controls are in perfect working order, including the cylinder release, trigger, and cartridge ejector.  This vintage S&W Model 60 should fire and function like-new.  If you have been looking for a very lightly-used S&W Model 60 for your collection this 1979-80 production Chief's Special would be a great choice.
