Description:
Mauser Model 98k Carbine, chambered in 8 mm. This German Mauser has seen some use over the years but is still in good condition. Clearly seen on the top of the receiver is the 1939 year of manufacture and the 42 is the manufacture code. On the left side of the receiver is seen the Eagle with swastika, followed by the serial number, and model 98 designation. On the right side of the receiver you can see the 3 Eagles with 63 under them and the waffenampt proof mark of WaA63. On the floor plate you can see the matching serial numbers and more proof marks. The bore does need a bit of cleaning. The bluing is still present on the barrel and receiver though there are a few patches of patina and loss of bluing. The stock is in good shape with a few scuffs here and there, but the major thing to note is the cut-out piece at the upper part of the butt plate. It appears that at some point a piece was cut out and then pinned back in place with wood pins. 8mm Mauser
