***SOLD, pending pmt.*** This is a high condition and ultra scarce 300 Win Mag (less than 5,000 made). However, it has had the barrel shortened slightly by 3/16". Of course, this is not enough missing material to have
been threaded for anything, so I can only surmise that the muzzle's crown or sharp edge was damaged enough during a drop that this seemed like a logical solution at the time.
Otherwise, it is a very nice rifle throughout, and while the discrepancy was quite apparent to me during inspection, it seems to go unnoticed by many or most. It has been properly crowned so I'm sure it shoots just fine.
It would not be a difficult proposition for any capable gunsmith to bump the front sight ramp back to its relative position, but I will leave that to the new owner's discretion.
The S/N is 537*** with matching bolt offered for 1 year only during the last year of production in 1963. Factory vented recoil pad as issued on all 300 Win Mags.
