We offer you a “RARE” Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1956 MC "Premier Grade" 30-06 Engraved Carbine with All Matching Number with a Griffin & Howe mount from 1958.

We offer you a “Premier Grade” all matching numbers Steyr Mannlicher-Schoenauer Carbine. This Carbine has a total of (11) all matching serial numbered parts; “Trigger guard 4207, Trigger plate 4207, Trigger 207, Bolt 24207, Nose Cap 4207, Safety lever 207, Receiver “on the bottom since it is engraved” 24207, Barrel 24207, Stock 24207 and last but not least and seldom seen both action screws “207”.
This Mannlicher-Schoenauer "Premier Grade" carbine was manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in Austria in 1958. It is chambered for the versatile .30-06 Springfield caliber. The barrel measures 20 inches in length and is fitted with iron sights (brass bead on a ramp at the front, two leaf - one folding rear). The bore is excellent with no issues. The receiver ring, rear bridges, bolt stop, bolt handle, magazine floor plate, nose cap, trigger guard and rear tang are all deep relief engraved and feature game scenes with the classic German style oak leaf and acorn motif. They are bordered by very fine and precise work. Please keep in mind; this is “Old School” metal removal engraving by hand. Not the crap they call engraving now that is punch-outline work.
The full length Mannlicher walnut stock shows nice figure, hand cut checkering and a deeply scalloped “carved slope away” shadow line cheek piece. The LOP measures just over 13 7/8 inches from the trigger to the original buttplate. It shows a few minor storage marks and two small dings as pointed out in the pictures on the left side at the muzzle area. The metal finish is in excellent condition as you can see in the pictures. This Carbine was purchased new and has been sitting in a safe for the last 64 years.
The front receiver ring shows a deep relief engraved “FP-1” Roaring Stag in a mountain scene. The floor plate has an “RC-8” Chamois Buck in the woods engraved scene with an “F” at the bottom and the Steyr logo below that. The trigger guard shows a “TG-10” Roe Deer Buck with mountains in the background.
The magazine is marked “30” on the follower and inside the base. The left side of the barrel and receiver “under the stock” show the “58” date code; 1958, “eagle” proof mark with a Vienna “NPv” smokeless powder proof mark. The receiver is marked; "Steyr - Daimler - Puch A.G., Steyr followed by the Steyr bull’s eye logo" under the side mount. The rear sight is a 2-leaf with one folding blade marked “300”. The top of the barrel at the receiver is marked “PREMIER”. The right side of the barrel is marked with the serial number and caliber “30-06”.
These came with a slot on the left side of the receiver filled with a blank from the factory. That was removed when the desirable Griffin & Howe mount was installed. It wears a set of 1” slit rings with a vintage Redfield 4X scope mounted in them. The mount, rings and scope are all in excellent condition.
In 1958 the cost to order this 1956 MC “Monte Carlo” Carbine was $360. So needless to say not very many of these made their way into the “U.S.”. This Carbine is a collector quality gun that is an all matching “Premier Grade” that will make an excellent addition to any collection.
