FINE CONDITION MODEL 27S .25-20 CALIBER PUMP ACTION OCTAGON RIFLE, #15XXX, MADE 1909-1932. These fine rifles that were serial numbered on the inside of the upper tang and on the stock are surprisingly hard to find today. Often when found they exhibit hard use and often abuse. This example retains nearly all the blue overall with only some ageing and a little plum mixing mainly to the bottom forward portion of the receiver. Buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and small blade bead front sight, exc. markings, and mechanics. The forend is excellent and the stock shows normal light handling marks. The bore is a bit dark, but shows strong rifling all the way through and is generally excellent. The Model 27S is a takedown rifle. To take it apart one need only cock the hammer, unscrew the lever on the front of the receiver on the right side and unscrew the thumb-screw on the left side. A really nice rifle overall.
