Description:
This is a very unique Remington 700 BDL. Made in the last year of DuPont's ownership prior to selling to investment companies. As an ex-Remington employee I can tell you a lot changed in quality starting in 1995 the second full year of remote ownership. You will notice in the photos that this rifle has the double steel cross pins for stock strength. They were covered with a DuPont synthetic black oval and finished with the stock. One is behind the recoil lug and the other between the magazine cut out and the trigger cut out. The newer production .338 Model 700's either used one or two of the lighter brass screws present is smaller caliber 700's. Remington resisted chambering of the .338 Win. Mag in the 700 for 30 years after its introduction by Winchester in 1957. The double heavy duty stock pin support got cut as a cost savings tool under the new management.
I am old and I am thinning the gun safe in an effort to cram for the finals. This rifle is amazingly accurate and loves Nosler Accubonds! I had it professionally pillar bedded and a Jewell trigger installed. I have shown the trigger and the bedding in the photos The barrel bedding has not been touched as you can also see in the photos. When this rifle is in the stock you can not see it has been upgraded with the pillar bedding. The only damage other than normal light handling makes is a chatter and ouch behind the tang. You can see it close up in the last photo. The rifle is priced right considering the Jewell trigger and pillar bedding. Freight is getting to be ridiculously expensive from Wyoming but in most cases $50.00 will do it. If it is less I will refund the difference to you.
