An Early and Scarce U.S. Civil War Colt Alteration of a Whitney Model 1841 Mississippi Rifle With Bayonet Ring Having Matching Numbers With The Barrel In nice Untouched Condition. All original and complete including the bayonet ring and ramrod. The bayonet ring and barrel are both #2062. It has the correct Colt Alteration Sight on it. The rifle has nice metal and markings throughout. The lock and the barrel both have matching 1853 dates on them. All of the metal on the gun has a natural darkening patina on it. The wood on it is fine throughout with nice edges and a wonderful grain to it. There are two U.S. Inspectors Cartouches on the backside of the wood opposite the lock. All of the brass hardware on the gun is fine and untouched. The rifle has a fine bore and action. This Is A Fine looking All Original Example Of A Scarce U.S. Civil War Colt Alteration Of A Whitney Mississippi Rifle With Matching Barrel And Bayonet Ring Serial Numbers On It!
