Here we have an honest hard working Colt Model 1901 New Army revolver chambered in .39 Colt Long caliber. The revolver featured a counter-clockwise rotating cylinder, which could be opened for loading and ejection by simply pulling back on a catch mounted on the left side of the frame behind the recoil shield. It was easily manipulated by the thumb of the right hand, and upon release the cylinder could be poked out sideways with the shooter's forefinger. Empty cases were removed by simply pushing back on an ejector rod to activate a star extractor. The six-shooter could then be quickly reloaded and the cylinder clicked back into place. This particular example has all the proper markings on the butt and it has inspection marks RAC (Rinaldo A Carr) and LEB (Capt Leroy E Briggs). This fine Colt has worn to a handsome warm patina over the years and it has some high edge wear. The wood grips panels have a few pressure marks but no chips or cracks. The 6 inch barrel has a bright bore and very good rifling. This fine Colt would make a great addition to an existing collection or a strong way to start a new collection. If this gun could talk it would likely have some tales to tell.
