Serial No. 317131, 45-70, 32 5/8"" round barrel circa 1884 upgraded with 1888 improvements with 93-95% original blue with some thinning noted on the trigger guard. Traces of case coloring are noted on the breech block, Wood shows usage and handling wear with a crips cartouche dated 1891. The Springfield Research Service states this rifle was issued to Company I of the 11th Infantry in October of 1889, this was a company of mostly Apache stationed in the Arizona territory.
