FRENCH CHARLESVILLE MODEL 1770 FLINTLOCK GENDARME PISTOL. All original and complete except mainspring which is broken needing repair or replacement. American Revolutionary War era pistol for French police, customs, border guards and port officials. Lock plate engraved in script “MANUFACTURE/ DE CHARLESVILLE”. Original flint with all the original lock parts and screws. Excellent example with the original crisp brownish-grey patina on metal and the original finish on the stock. Trigger guard finial with “P” proof stamp. Scarce French Martial Flintlock pistol.
