Here we have an honest and true workhorse of a pump shotgun - an Ithaca Model 37 12 gauge. The Ithaca Model 37 is a true American classic. It’s the lone survivor of the pre-World War II pump-action shotguns—the Winchester Model 12 and Model 97, and the Remington 31. What set the 37 apart was its action. The model 37 ejects empty shells at the bottom. Bottom ejection has several benefits: Empties are ejected at the shooter’s feet (and not at a buddy), the action is better protected from debris and bottom-ejecting guns work well for left-handed shooters. This particular example has some high edge wear and handling marks....there is one spot on the bottom of the barrel near the muzzle where there is some loss of finish. The semi gloss finish is worn from much of the stock but largely remains on the forend. The 28 inch plain barrel is choked fixed modified and has a very good bore. The front sight is a very bright fiber optic. Being choked modified and having a 2 3/4 inch chamber this would be a very good all around field gun. The left side of the receiver has a waterfowl scene and the right side has an upland scene. This classic shotgun has a smooth action and everyting works like it should. This Ithaca would make a great addition to a collection of classic pump shotguns and a great "user" gun.
