Description:
Ruger’s New Vaquero revolver was a response to the shooting community’s call for a SAA-style revolver that was closer in size to the real life Colt SAA revolver. The original Vaquero was built on the standard Blackhawk frame. The New Vaquero uses its own, smaller frame. When chambered for the .45 Long Colt, the New Vaquero cannot use the same Tier III loads the earlier version can. However, when both versions are chambered for the .357 Magnum, as this revolver is, there is no difference. Both will handle the same high pressure loads sold by Buffalo Bore. However, the New Vaquero was built more for the Cowboy Action Shooting crowd, which normally involves using low pressure loads, hence why the pressure reduction for the .45 Colt versions was considered acceptable. Unfortunately, in recent years, Ruger dropped the “New” from the marketing title, though the guns themselves are still marked "New Vaquero". Needless to say, this has caused some confusion. This New Vaquero revolver comes in a high polish stainless finish. It was made in 2007, and it features a 4.62” barrel, Ruger polymer grips, fixed sights, and the famous SAA style hammer. It has seen some use as is evident from the powder burns on the face of the cylinder, but it remains in excellent shape. The only other sign of wear is a few minor scratches on the butt of the grip. The pistol comes with a spare set of hardwood grips. These are factory “aftermarket” hardwood grips with medallions, but they are stamped with the letters “NVB” on the inside of each grip. The New Vaquero comes with its original factory box and manual.
