SOLD Colt model F1740 EGA --- Giuseppe Garibaldi Special Edition. Colt Third Model Dragoon percussion revolver with 44 cal. 7.5 inch part round part octagon barrel, hinged loading lever, six shot cylinder - "F" Series Colt Blue barrel, wedge, cylinder, trigger and screws - case hardened frame, loading lever and hammer - brass backstrap and round trigger guard- one piece oil finished walnut grip.
This model is embellished with gold etched portraits of Samuel Colt and Giuseppe Garibaldi on the cylinder and gold etched panels on the barrel.
Garibaldi fought for Italian unity and almost single-handedly united northern and southern Italy. He led a volunteer army of guerrilla soldiers to capture Lombardy for Piedmont and later conquered Sicily and Naples, giving southern Italy to King Victor Emmanuel II of Piedmont, who established the Kingdom of Italy
Included with the set is a French fit walnut display case with key and .44 cal lead balls. The Tyrol red velvet lined interior is designed to accommodate a single Colt Third Model Dragoon - without accessories. ~206 Made NIB value $1050
