ORIGINAL INDIAN WARS SPRINGFIELD U.S. MODEL 1879 TRAPDOOR .45-70 CAL. CARBINE. Serial numbered in the 100,8xx range in the first 1000 carbines of the Model 1879 production series. All original with the original trap in the butt with cleaning rod correct for the 1879. Excellent with 90% original blue and much original case colors. Stock with most of the finish and a visible circled “P” proof cartouche stamped to the rear of the trigger guard tang. Perfect markings. Excellent bright bore and perfect working order. Extra nice example.
