RARE REMINGTON ROLLING BLOCK COMMERCIAL MODEL 1870 SINGLE SHOT .50 CF CAL. 8 ½” PISTOL CIRCA 1870. Serial number “30” stamped alternately on the sides of the grip straps and otherwise completely unmarked. Only 100 of this model made. Barrel with 5 shallow lands and grooves. Walnut grip and forend. All original and very probably a prototype possibly for the style of rifling which is normally only 3 lands and grooves. Metal has very fine salt and pepper pitting over a very crisp little used light grey brush polished finish as one would find on an experimental or prototype. Serial number stamps match stamps of other Remington Rolling block pistols both in style and placement. Excellent bright bore with chamber having some light corrosion. Working order.
