Description:
This Marlin 1897 may be one of the most impressive examples in existence. Made in 1902 it features No. 3 engraving and a stunning deluxe Swiss style perch-bellied stock with "F" grade checkering and a rare cheekpiece. The metal features the factory nickel trim package on the swiss buttplate, front windgauge sight, hammer, lever, scope mounts, and magazine latch. The buttplate is also factory engraved with the initials "E.H.C". The hammer has a unique shape which is rounded and checkered. The whole rifle appears to have been completely custom ordered and done at the factory. The overall condition is excellent including the the the blue, nickel and wood finish. There is still good case colors on the receiver particularly on the left side. This is a truely amazing 120 year old Marlin 22 target rifle.
