Description:
***   SOLD   ***   Daniel Fraser & Son of Edinburgh are best known for their much sought-after rifles. However, few are aware that Fraser made a small number of unique and beautifully engraved boxlock shotguns of their own design. And here is a prime example. One of the most striking features of these special guns is their profuse and exquisite engraving. Full coverage of the action body and fantastically carved fences set this gun apart from any other. No. 2921 was manufactured in Scotland circa 1903 and has intercepting sears, gold washed internals, double triggers, auto ejectors, manual safety, and disc set strikers. It weighs 6lb 14oz.   ***   The original 30” chopper lump nitro steel barrels were London proofed in 2009 for 2-3/4” shotshells. The bores are shiny and the bluing is in excellent condition. The barrels are topped by a raised solid concave hand filed rib. The rib is inscribed “Dan’l Fraser & Co. Gun & Rifle Manufacturers 4 Leith St Terrace Edinburgh”. The right barrel is bored 0.729 with a constriction of 0.07 for Light Improved Cylinder choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.027. The left barrel is also bored 0.727 and has a constriction of 0.015 for Light Modified choke. Minimum wall thickness is 0.026.   ***   The pistol grip stock and splinter forearm are made of highly figured French walnut. The checkering is crisp. Stock dimensions are 15-1/8” including a 3/4" leather recoil pad by 1-1/2” by 2-1/4”. Cast off for the righthand shot.   ***   Shooters and collectors of Scottish shotguns will understand that this is a rare opportunity to purchase one of these rare Frasers. This great handling double is a joy to shoot and to behold.  Move quickly before it gets away.  ***   I am an FFL and will need a signed copy of your dealer’s FFL. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, insurance, and any other related charges. I give a 3-day non-firing inspection period which begins when the gun is delivered to purchaser’s FFL dealer or directly to the purchaser if the gun is classified as an Antique. Will only accept returns at buyer’s expense.
