This is a original condition Colt 1911, year 1912 serial number 16698 which comes late in the 1912 Army issued range. The first year produced over 9950 Army guns with the balance going to the Navy and the USMC. The subject pistol is fully functional and mechanically sound, though not recommended for shooting considering its age and rarity. The pistol has the correct slide and small parts. Although the various books state that the barrel is suppose to have a vertical H on the breach, my personal observation has seen Horozontal HP barrels peppered in with the later serial guns. The magazine being a later standard Lanyard loop. The grips have the 15 row grips and are correct per the Clawson book. The pistol was field stripped and carefully photographed to provide a wide range of detailed views. Buyers are encouraged to thoroughly review the photos to determine the condition and characteristics of this pistol. There are several excellent resources available for reference, such as "Colt .45 Service Pistols" by Charles W. Clawson, that may be useful to s seeking more details, or it is advisable to consult with other sources as needed for due diligence. The subject pistol is over 100 years old and is offered for sale as shown in the photographs. Please study the photographs carefully, the seller offers no representations or guarantees as to condition, originality, suitability for purpose, or end use. Please note that payment is required by certified check, or wire transfer only, the Seller will provide payment instructions following the end of the by using the checkout system. The pistol will ship to the Buyer’s FFL holder of choice, or direct* to the Buyer if they hold a valid C&R License once the purchase funds are secured and realized. Shipping will be via “Overnight-Next Day” via UPS service. It is the responsibility of the buyer to fully disclose to the seller, prior to shipping, all local or state requirements regarding sale and receipt of the subject pistol where the buyer resides and/or the receiving FFL is located. Please be sure to consult with your FFL to determine what the laws and requirements are in your city and state and notify the seller of same. Insurance is required, at Buyer’s expense, and the cost will be determined at time of shipping as it will be based on the final price. The Seller will provide a 72-hour inspection period with a full refund of the purchase price, pending return receipt of the pistol to the Seller in original, complete, condition, as the pistol appears in the photos. As a condition of any refund, the Buyer would pay all shipping, handling and insurance fees, or any other fees, more than the sale price.
