Description:
44 BP; 10% blue, good bore, fair stock, 29'' barrel, Evans modified the original and began producing the so-called Transition model. Unlike the old model, the transition model had a walnut lower buttstock, as well as a redesigned buttplate. These changes improved the balance of the rifle, as well as protecting it from damage. Barrel markings on the transition model are as follows: ?Evans Repeating Rifle Mechanic Falls Me./Pat, Dec. 8, 1868 & Sept. 16, 1871?. Estimated quantity made ? 150 The metal finish has lost most of its finish, and considerable dark spotting overall, with some mild pitting. The front sight is a blade, and the rear is av notch. It has a good bore, and the action works. The forearm and buttstock is worn and has numerous dings and handling marks the left lower buttstock has a repaired crack.
