TULA Arsenal Nagant Revolver Made in 1933
Here we present a Soviet Russian Nagant Model 1895 Revolver made at the Tula Arsenal in Russia, circa 1933. This was the primary sidearm of the Soviet Union during the Second World War. This one bears the Tula arsenal mark and a date of 1933.
This is a seven shot revolver chambered for 7.62x38mmR and features the “gas seal” system. This involves the cylinder moving forward when the gun is cocked to create a seal between the barrel. This provided a boost to the velocity of the projectile by eliminating cylinder gap. Leon Nagant is to be credited with this unusual system. He was quite the inventor and gun maker. The M1895 was made in both single and double action, though the double action design eventually became the default. The M1895 Nagant was reliable and was used by the Soviet Union military all the way up to about 1952, when it was replaced by the Makarov pistol.
The overall condition is good. Strong action. Bright bore. Grips are in fine shape and maintain sharp checkering. Clear markings. “1933” dated frame. “PW ARMS REDMOND WA” import marked. This example has been nicely refinished.
