Serial Number: FWS50586

Here we have something special.  I know, it is an L.C. Smith Field Grade 20 gauge that they made over 30,000 of, so what is so special about this one?  CONDITION…98% UNTOUCHED, FACTORY ORIGINAL IN EVERY WAY, WITH ONLY MINOR NATURAL WEAR.  The stock is uncut and retains most of the factory finish with only a few tiny handling marks, the 28” barrels still choked M/F from the factory and retain 98% dark factory blue and factory 2 ¾” chambers, and the action is gorgeous with 98% vivid factory case color with only mild fading on the bottom carry point, clean screws, perfect mechanics, and tight action with the top lever way right of center.  This gun has been shot and carried afield, but not much.  This Field Grade Featherweight 20 ga., snFWS50586 built in 1949, is 73 years old and is one of the finest examples of the L.C. Smith Field Grade in 20ga. available on the market today.  You can always find a lot of Field Grade 20ga. guns on the internet for sale, but most show their years with little case color or barrel blue, lots of scratches, cut stocks with added pads, poorly restored guns with pitted barrels…there are a lot of mediocre guns, but few near new guns to be found.  From an investment standpoint, high-condition, untouched guns are always in demand and increasing in value, as there are so few remaining to be found.  From a shooting standpoint, this gun is perfect.  It shows very high condition, but it has been carried afield so you can feel good about using it to take game, break targets, create memories, and pass it on to loved ones in the future years ahead.  SEE BELOW FOR ALL THE SPECIFICATIONS, but the highlights are; mirror shiny bores, factory 2 ¾” chambers for modern, readily available ammunition, barrels tight as new on the hinge pin and breech face, full length stock to the factory buttplate with superb wood-to-metal fit (nice figure for a Field Grade), and a dynamic balance between the hands.  This gun has it all, and it is a “looker” as well, a vintage American double you can be proud of.  The first bird season is always the dove season, and with 28” M/F barrels and balanced just ahead of the hinge pin, this is the perfect dove gun!  Don’t let this one slip away…these high-condition small gauge Elsies always sell quickly.  Thanks for looking!

We employ full time gunsmiths on premises and can perform alterations to suit your needs within a few weeks of purchase. Common requests are: -stock bending to suit your particular requirements -addition of any specified butt pad to increase length of pull -alteration of chokes to suit your shooting preferences -lengthening of chambers and forcing cones -darkening stock color with penetrating stains -restoring any part of the gun including rust blue, charcoal blue, bone and charcoal case color, wood restoration and checkering recuts. If you like one our guns but it needs "tweaked", let us know and we can quote you a time and price. Some enthusiasts like the guns "as found" and others want them "just so". We often list guns as found and let the particular buyer choose how they want their gun to fit or look.
