Description:
General Specs: Colt, Year 1969, .22 LR, 32.9oz
Serial Number: D29964

Introduced in 1966 the Diamondback revolver was a scaled down version of the famous Colt Python; it mirrored its magnum caliber brother in profile but was built on the smaller D frame (also used in the Detective Special). It was considered a Deluxe model and featured a vented barrel rib with full length underlug, a wide serrated Target hammer and adjustable rear sight. The Diamondback was offered in .38 Special and .22 Long Rifle chamberings and because of this was often used as a training gun for new shooters. Production of the Colt Diamondback ceased in 1988, today the models firing the .22 LR round are in increasing demand and for good reason- you can train with an accurate look alike of the Python for a fraction of the ammunition cost. This early production example (SN D29964) was manufactured in 1969 and is in 99% factory original condition with the desirable 4” barrel, the only indication of handling is a faint drag line on the cylinder.  The double action trigger retains Colts famous smoothness and breaks cleanly at 8.9lb without stacking or overtravel, the single action breaks at 3.6lb. The Walnut target grips are in excellent condition and contribute to a well-balanced and natural hold, with sights that are defined and easy to pick up you’ll soon be ringing steel at 50 yards and more! For use as a training aid or just for some easy plinking this Diamondback has you covered, thanks for looking. Enjoy.
