While John Browning's genius created the original Browning superposed it was Mr. Browning’s grandson John Val who travelled to Japan in the 1960's to supervise manufacturing of the Browning Superposed. Christened the Citori, it joined the Browning line of over/unders inheriting all the excellent attributes of the original Browning design and then adding selective improvements to aid with modern manufacturing processes. The Citori's receiver is milled from a solid block of steel and the chambers are hard chromed lined for longevity. The internal parts are all polished and hand fitted earning the Citori its reputation as a precision fit shotgun. The Citori became a worldwide success on its introduction in 1973.

This 1980 produced example, SN 15383PM163 is a rare factory two barrel set Browning Citori Sporter, weighing 6lbs. 4oz., it has grade one decoration with a nicely figured fine English stock and field forearm with a schnabel tip, excellent factory original bluing with a small area of wear at the carry point. It has an inertial trigger and selectable manual safety, the trigger breaks at 3.2 and 3.1lb.  The bores are excellent and choked SK/IC (barrel set A) and IC/M (barrel set B) and have 3” chambers. The twin 26” barrels have vent ribs, a silver front bead and balance just in front of the pin, both arrangements weigh and balance the same. This shotgun is tight on face with its top lever right of center, its ejectors are timed, and the action locks up tight. Notably this two-barrel set comes complete with a Browning Airways hard case, a $250 value.

It’s the perfect Grouse and upland gun at a great price, a reliable gun to take afield or break some clays at the club, it's everything a classic over/ under Browning can be- just right!
