Description:
General Specs: Browning, Year 1981, 28 Gauge, 6lb 9oz, Chokes .009/ .015 IC/M, LOP 14 1/4", DAH 2 3/8", DAC 1 1/2"
Serial Number: 12779PZ173

While John Browning's genius created the original Browning superposed it was Mr. Browning’s grandson John Val who travelled to Japan in the 1960's to supervise manufacturing of the Browning Superposed. Christened the Citori, it joined the Browning line of over/unders. The design inherited all the excellent attributes of the original Browning design and then added selective improvements to aid with modern manufacturing processes. The Citori's receiver is milled from a solid block of steel and the chambers are hard chromed lined for longevity. The internal parts are all polished and hand fitted earning the Citori its reputation as a precision fit shotgun. The Browning Citori became a worldwide success on its introduction in 1973.

An extraordinary find, a Browning Citori Sporter that has not been used and is in almost factory new condition!  The Citori Sporter featured a straight grip, English style stock and weighed in over 1/4lb. less than the standard field gun.  Since being manufactured in 1981 this Browning,  sn12779PZ173 has remained unfired, having a few handling marks on the furniture, probably from the gun being brought out and admired!  There are no primer marks on the breech face, the ejector tabs, trunnions, and barrel flats are clear of any residue and wear. The bluing is easily 99% overall with just a little loss under the safety while the grade one engraving style is still factory fresh. This example has an inertia trigger and selectable manual safety with the trigger breaking at 3.2 and 3.3lb. The English stock and forend with schnabel tip are oil rubbed with a low luster finish over the nicely figured wood highlighting some fiddleback figure, the checkering is hand cut and impeccable and wood to metal fit is superb. This shotgun is tight on face with its top lever right of center, its ejectors are timed with an action that locks up tight as new. The bores of the 26” barrels are perfect and have the desirable fixed chokes of IC/ M.

Finding an early Browning Citori Sporter in 28ga is not the easiest of tasks, finding one in unfired condition is remarkable, so don’t wait too long to act or it will be gone!  Enjoy.
